About Us
Wendy Pfile…
…is an amazing woman. She spends her days saving ants, helping stray cats, and softening my heart. Her laughter is infectious, her smile radiant. Thanks to her, my eyes have been opened to so many more wonderful things in this world. She brightens my days. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her, and I know that we'll still be laughing sixty years from now.
Dan Keen…
…is a sweet, sweet man. At least that's what one of our co-workers, Shashi, always says whenever we run into her. And I agree with her. He is intelligent and witty and playful and sarcastic and goofy and silly and extremely cute, but, at his heart, he is a sweet, sweet man. I feel privileged to be marrying him.
We met…
…at Apple, where we both worked on the still-secret iPhone project. One of our first interactions was when Dan had to see the eye doctor and Wendy (who hardly knew him) volunteered her sunglasses to help his eye dilation. They then danced together-ish to BT at the last Apple Campus WWDC Beer Bash. Several months passed, however, before Wendy came over to watch a movie at Dan's apartment (likely a sad movie, knowing Dan's tastes!). Snuggling together on that couch, they knew that something special existed between them. What followed was a happy romantic time, filled with many instances of Dan not knowing that Wendy was waiting outside at his apartment's gate because his pre-release iPhone had panicked and he couldn't get her phone calls :) At work, they were known (in a drunken, Macworld party state) as the first [REDACTED] iPhone couple.
We got engaged…
…on July Fourth, 2008. For months prior to this, Dan had been hinting that he thought he wanted to spend the rest of his life in Wendy's smile (especially after their three-week Italy trip), but that formalizing such was going to happen at some far-off time in the future. In the meantime, they headed back to the East Coast for Dan's college friend's wedding. Doing touristy things around Ithaca, NY, Dan was experimenting with fill-flash shots of Wendy in front of Buttermilk Falls when he said some quip like "[blah blah] when we're married [blah blah]". Wendy replied "You'll have to ask me first," and Dan got down on one knee and said "Well, actually...".
Dan will forever remember how bright Wendy's eyes looked at that moment and how she barely could say "YES!" as she hugged him :)
