Bride's Wedding Party
Noelle Paduan - Matron of Honor
I met Noelle in a stained glass class. Although we both ended up hating the actual hobby of stained glass, it was by far the best class I've ever taken. Soon after we met Noelle invited me over for craft day at her house--that was my first introduction to "the group." Noelle is my best friend and my partner in crime. She has done more than almost anyone else to make California feel like home to me.
Esther Odekirk
Esther is a very down-to-earth person who is not afraid to be brutally honest when it's needed. She is a person of few words but is incredibly kind and dedicated. She is also a remarkably fun person. We've hung out in hot tubs and danced drunkenly to techno music, waving around handmade scarves.
Amber Godat
Amber is an incredibly good-natured person. She's always willing to help--whether you're a person or an animal. One of the things I admire about her most is that she spent a long time working for animal control. She witnessed things that I would never have the courage to deal with, and has helped countless animals in dire situations.
Groom's Wedding Party
Ames Conant - Best Man
I met Ames my sophomore year when I was bumming around Kiefer's place. The two of them lived together (with Ryan, Rene, and Blake as well). Ames and I are in some ways shockingly alike (but believe me, we're plenty different!). There's just something about the way we both think and approach life that fits really well together. Ames is married to Ashley and living in a yuppie Connecticut neighborhood with their dog and a tractor.
He drives a wife-hand-me-down Toyota 4Runner, but previously drove a '95 BMW 525i and 83 BMW 320is (yuppie BMW!).
Chris Kiefer
I met Chris my second freshman year at Cornell. I was becoming good friends with his roommate and would run into Chris fairly often - most of the time he was sleeping in his room. Bleary eyed ;-) I think one of our earliest real interactions was when the Camaro munched its rear diff and he gave me a lift to the U-Haul place to get a tow truck. I spent most of my sophomore year hanging out at his apartment and we lived in the same apartment the last two years of school.
He drives a 2003 Subaru WRX. Despite my making fun of its tin can roof, the car is one of the main reasons I ended up buying my Subie. Previously he drove a 1995 Chevy 2500HD 4x4. I really, really miss that truck.
Aron Talburt (and Shauna!)
Aron has the unlucky distinction of being the reason I got hired at Apple. When his boss was on vacation, he went through some resumes and picked mine out of the stack. Folks are still blaming him for this mistake. I've been lucky to know him from the time he started dating Shauna (I remember the Monday after that weekend - he was really happy!) to when they got married (the poor guy picked me as Best Man) and had Andrew… It's been a blast. He's been my longest, stablest friend on the west coast.
He drives a 2007 Nissan 350Z. It's fun to ride in =) Previously he drove a Honda CRX powered by half of a hamster.
